Email From Amanda (formerly of Generation and RAFA)

Thank you for everything that BAYC had done for me the 4 years I was there. If there was one group home that I have been in and would have to recommend to someone it would be BAYC first because believe it or not your staff really do care even though residents don’t see it. But they really do.

I loved being at RAFA. It was a very good experience for me to get a good chance to see how the world was all by myself before I emancipated. I really do thank staff for being there for me and not letting me give up on life. They kept me going – pushing me to get a job and save money every time I got paid. The one thing that I loved about RAFA is that staff makes sure you hand over some money for them to put in your savings account. That was a really BIG help to me because every time I put money away, I got it back when I was emancipated and without that money I would have to struggle to get money to put down on my new apartment. I just want to say that whoever wants to go to RAFA, they are up for a big challenge but it’s not easy either living on your own, but the challenge you will face will be good in the long run. I had the most wonderful things happen to me while I was at RAFA because when someone you are really close to sees you are doing the best you have ever done then good things that you never thought you would see start coming to you.
